AXERA shortlisted the first batch

AI chips are becoming a key development direction of China's semiconductor industry, playing an irreplaceable role in the process of intelligent upgrading of major industries. Recently, the 10th (2021) Shenzhen New Generation information Technology Industry Standardization Forum "AI core Standard Enabling Traditional Industries" theme forum was held under the guidance of Shenzhen Municipal People's Government and sponsored by China Institute of Electronic Technology Standardization and other units. At the meeting, in order to implement the "National Standardization Development Outline", "Artificial intelligence Chip Standardization Innovation Partners" held a launch ceremony. As one of the first members' representatives, Dr. Qiu Xiaoxin, CEO of AI vision chip R&D and basic computing platform company AXERA, was invited to attend the ceremony, and discussed the core topics of standardization in hot industry fields and AI chip evaluation standard formulation.

It is reported that the 10th (2021) Shenzhen New generation of information technology industry standardization Forum "AI core standard enabling traditional industries" theme forum with standardization innovation opening new bureau as the theme, in-depth discussion of AI chip in the cloud side, edge side, end side and other fields of opportunities and challenges, etc. A number of leaders of national ministries and commissions such as the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, leaders of Shenzhen City, leaders of leading enterprises in the AI chip industry, experts and scholars in universities and colleges were invited to unveil the "AI chip Standardization Innovation Partners", and conduct keynote speeches and excellent case results release and other activities.

In order to improve the general ability of AI chip and the quality of the chip, better and faster into the industrial application, AI chip standard has been put on the agenda. The organization of "AI Chip Standardization Innovation Partnership" aims at implementing the National Standardization Development Outline and is led by China Electronic Standards Institute. It is jointly established by 39 domestic AI chip manufacturers, universities, research institutes and users, including Tsinghua University, Southeast University, University of Science and Technology Beijing, Institute of Computing Technology of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Huawei, Feiteng, Yituo, Sensetime, Intsuyuan Technology, AXERA, etc., to jointly promote the standardization development of Chinese AI chips, so as to lead by standards and promote industrial ecological construction. Related industries that enable the application of artificial intelligence will help realize the rapid development of "AI +".

Zhao Xinhua, president of the China Institute of Electronic Technology Standardization, pointed out that the AI industry has become a new engine for innovation-driven development, with its rapid development and further expansion of industrial scale and deep integration with traditional industries. The Outline of National Standardization Development issued by the CPC Central Committee and The State Council also clearly points out that standardization research in the field of artificial intelligence should be carried out to improve quality management and promote quality improvement through the comprehensive application of artificial intelligence technology. This provides important guidance for us to build an "AI core" technology system and establish an open innovation ecosystem in the new generation of information technology.

Ren Xiang, director of the integrated Circuit Evaluation Center of China Institute of Electronics Technology Standardization, said that strengthening the standardization of AI chips and innovative service ability is the key, hoping that the industry can join hands to accelerate the "AI +" application mode, fully integrate the industry strength, with leading enterprises as the core to build industrial platforms, joint laboratories, etc. Leading enterprises in the industry will drive the coordinated development of small and medium-sized enterprises to form an artificial intelligence technology innovation ecosystem.

The enterprises participating in the AI chip standardization innovation partner this time all have significant visibility in the industry, and their products have been mass-produced, so as to deepen the process of intelligent transformation and promote industrial upgrading with their respective advantages. Public information shows that AXERA was founded in May 2019, focusing on the research and development of AI SoC chips in the field of image and video processing, mainly applied in the end side and edge side. At present, AXERA has completed the research and development of two chips, one of which has been officially commercialized. AX630A is the first high performance and low power AI vision processor chip independently developed by Aixin, which has been officially shipped. The second chip, AX620A, has been successfully lit in July 2021, and the marketing work is under steady progress at present.

It is understood that Aixin Yuanwise has achieved the industry-leading mixed precision NPU, and focuses on the intelligent upgrade of traditional ISP, exploring the specific application of AI in traditional ISP hardware. With advantages of high computing power, low power consumption, high computing power utilization rate, it can greatly improve the picture quality of several key modules in traditional ISP and reduce the demand for DDR. At the same time, the performance of NPU can be improved to more than 50%. AXERA products can be widely used in smart city, smart retail, smart community, smart home, Internet of Things devices and other different fields.

In the afternoon of the next day, the first closed-door meeting of "Innovation Partners" was held, attended by more than 40 expert representatives from member units. At the meeting, all parties had in-depth discussions and agreed that the follow-up work of "Innovation Partners" should focus on the development of evaluation standards for cloud side, edge side and end side AI chips and the standardization of AI chips in hot fields such as data center and autonomous driving, so as to promote the application and promotion of Chinese AI chips in various industries and accelerate the cultivation of new industrial drivers. Exploring new areas of growth in the real economy and promoting the optimization and upgrading of our economic structure.
